Innovative Met Products (PTY) LTD formally a close corporation was founded in 1987. The company originally focused on metallography, petrography, and mineralogy and associated products.

Today, 12 years later, the group employs more then forty people with its head office in Boksburg and branches in Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Durban and a service branch in Richards Bay.

As with any high technological venture, IMP's strength resides in the creativity and dedication of its people. IMP employs and impressive team of qualified engineers, technologists, technicians and other technical staff, with considerable formal training and experience. It is with hard work and imagination the IMP's staff, at all levels, maintain its position in the market place.

IMP has a well-equipped metallurgical laboratory including sample preparation, microscopy, hardness testing, tensile testing, compression testing, impact testing, wedge penetration testing, and bend testing. Its chemical laboratory is capable of wet analysis and is equipped with an AA, carbon Sulphur Analyzer and Optical Emission Spectrometer. The OES is equipped with iron, cast iron, copper, nickel, and aluminum bases. It is the company's intention to expand the lab to include plastics and mineralogical testing facilities, in the near future.

IMP represents several well-known manufacturers of laboratory testing equipment. These Companies include Nikon, Herzog, Belec (OES), Lloyds, Clemex, and Tinus Olsen to mention a few. The company has dedicated itself to specialize in laboratory sample preparation and testing solutions. Regular visits to the manufactures for training ensures our service, support and sales staff are kept up to date with the latest developments. ASSOCIATES....

IMP not only imports high technology products for resale, such as the Herzog range of products but also has design, engineering project management, and manufacturing capabilities. IMP have been awarded several large turnkey projects. Our Automation projects team headed by Andre Balt has experience in programming in C++, Plc programming and robotics integration. Design, applications engineering and project management also fall under the Automation department. Two recent automation projects include a Herzog automation system for Foskor mine worth R 8 000 000.00 and a large laboratory project for the new Mozal smelter worth R22m.
